Biography

Buule Ronald grew up a truly inspired coffee businessman and a visionary leader. He is a driving force in Uganda’s coffee industry. As the Executive Director of CECOFA, he oversees the management of over 10,000 farmers under the Central Coffee Farmers Association. Buule Ronald is a founding member of several impactful initiatives, including the Coffee Youth Club, Women in Coffee Uganda, and Ram Champions LLC in the United States of America, all of which are dedicated to empowering farmers and promoting sustainability in the coffee value chain.
Born into a fifth-generation coffee-farming family, Buule Ronald’s passion for coffee runs deep. His journey has been enriched by international experience, having studied in Peru, South America, where he specialized in ownership models along the coffee value chain. This global perspective, combined with his hands-on experience, has positioned him as a leader in developing innovative and sustainable practices for the coffee industry.
He was also a strong pillar in the formation of the CECOFA-MAMBOCINO partnership, an initiative dedicated to positioning coffee farming as a sustainable business and ensuring farmers have consistent access to export opportunities. In addition, he is the founder of the NYAPESI Foundation, an NGO that prioritizes supporting orphans from farming families, while also extending care to widows, persons with disabilities, and the elderly; with farmers’ welfare remaining the top priority.
Buule is a strong advocate for sustainable farming techniques, including the use of mountain micro-organisms (MMOs) to improve soil health and crop yields. His goal is to build a permanent and thriving coffee industry in Uganda, guided by sustainable measures that span “from farm to cup.”
With a focus on leadership and governance, Buule promotes coffee farming as a viable business through cooperatives and associations. He also specializes in coffee risk management; a skill honed through World Bank–supported training programs.
Buule is deeply committed to involving Uganda’s youth in the coffee value chain, encouraging them to view coffee farming as a profitable and rewarding business, both directly as farmers and indirectly through related opportunities.
